Reflection

Since I was a little life has gifted me with the opportunity to participate in one in a lifetime experiences. All of which have help me by empowering my dreams, assisted me in further developing my leadership skills, have taught me how to work with others to solve ongoing global issues in our society, and have paved the path to where I am now.

Reflecting back on the experiences I have achieved through the Global Learning Medallion leaves me in awe. I was able to continue my studies in French, while simultaneously learning more about French culture. I had the opportunity to attend multiple virtual meetings where we discussed important topics such as climate change, healthcare equity, feminism and women roles in society, minority communities, global political policies, and much more. It was a privilege sitting in on these discussion because not only was I learning but I was contributing to the solution, and making a difference. My favorite part of these meetings was seeing how passionate the other participants were because it encourage me to pursue further change and continue fighting for global matters.

I also learned a lot by being an active member of the FIU Pre-Vet Club, Alternative Breaks, Surfrider, Protecting our Oceans, French Honor Society, Global Learning, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. As I continue on as an alumni my goal still remains. I want to be an active global citizen, create awareness, encourage others through education, brainstorm ideas to solve global injustices and ultimately be the change for my generation and the next.
